How Online Mandi works

Online Mandi connects Indian farmers, livestock owners, equipment dealers, and rural traders directly with buyers across the country. Whether you are looking to sell your harvest or buy fresh produce in bulk, this guide walks you through the entire process step by step.

For sellers

From posting your first listing to marking it as sold — here is what selling on Online Mandi looks like.

1.Create your free account

Open the website or the Android app, tap Register, enter your mobile number, and verify with the OTP we send. That is the entire sign-up. You can fill in your name, profile photo, and location later from the profile page.

2.Add photos and details

Tap Sell, pick a category (Crop, Vegetable, Fruit, Animal, Equipment, Fertilizer, Land, and more), and add a clear title, price, quantity, and unit. Upload up to 5 photos taken in good daylight — listings with bright, well-framed photos receive three times more buyer responses. Add your phone number and your state and district so nearby buyers can find you.

3.Respond to buyer messages

When a buyer is interested, they will either start an in-app chat or call your listed phone number. Reply quickly — even a one-line acknowledgement makes a sale far more likely. Use the chat to share more photos, confirm the final price, and agree on the delivery arrangement.

4.Agree on price and payment

Settle on the final price in chat. Most sellers prefer UPI for small amounts and bank transfer for larger transactions, but you and the buyer are free to use any method you both trust. Never share OTPs or bank passwords with the buyer.

5.Arrange transport and hand over

Discuss whether the buyer will pick up the goods from your location, whether you will hire a local transporter, or whether courier delivery makes sense. For perishables like vegetables and fruits, always agree on the packing material and delivery window in advance.

6.Mark the listing as Sold

Once the deal is closed, open the listing from My Listings and change its status to Sold. This hides it from public search but keeps it in your account so you can quickly re-list a similar item next season.

For buyers

Finding fresh produce or rural goods directly from the producer is simpler than you think.

1.Search the marketplace

Use the search bar to look for any crop, vegetable, animal, equipment, or fertilizer by name. Or browse by category — Crop, Vegetable, Fruit, Animal, Equipment, Furniture, Electronics, Land, and more. Narrow your results by state and district to find sellers closest to you.

2.Review the listing carefully

Open each listing to see the photos, exact quantity, unit, asking price, and seller name. The contact details section also shows the seller's state and district so you can estimate transport cost.

3.Chat or call the seller

Tap Chat to send an instant message inside the app, or tap the phone number to call directly. Ask for fresh photos, harvest date, payment terms, and delivery options. Take screenshots of important confirmations.

4.Confirm price and pay safely

Once you are satisfied, agree on the final price. For first-time buyers we recommend small test orders. Verify the seller's UPI ID or bank account name matches the name on the listing before paying. Keep proof of payment.

5.Receive the goods

Arrange pickup, courier, or local transport. When the goods arrive, inspect them before signing or paying any balance. If anything is wrong, raise it with the seller in chat immediately.

Safety tips for both sides

Inspect before paying

If at all possible, see the goods in person or over video call before transferring any money.

Never share OTPs

No legitimate buyer or seller will ever ask for an OTP from your phone. If asked, end the conversation.

Use in-app chat

Keep negotiations inside the app so you have a written record in case of disputes.

Report suspicious users

See something off? Report it through the contact page.

Most listings get a response within a day

Quick replies, clear photos, and accurate prices are the three things buyers notice first. Apply those and your listing will work for you.
